Today I had a lovely visit at Portland's International Rose Test Gardens. The roses were in full bloom. The garden is part of Washington Park which also is the home to the Oregon Zoo and many other attractions. The garden was founded in 1915 at the encouragement of Jesse A. Curry who at the time was the editor of the Oregon Journal. The garden was designed to function as a safe haven for roses during World War I. The garden is a public garden, free of charge and open most days from 7.30-9pm. A must see if you are visiting Portland, Oregon.
