A Visit to Cheekwood Gardens

My sister recently visited Cheekwood Estate & Gardens in Nashville, Tennessee, and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to share a few of her  photos from the garden.

Cheekwood is a 55-acre historic estate that brings together botanical gardens, a grand 1930s mansion and an art museum. Once the home of Mabel and Leslie Cheek, it now welcomes visitors to explore its gardens and enjoy the beauty of its historic setting.

One of the pleasures of visiting a garden like this is  discovering how someone else brings plants and outdoor spaces together. For those of us who love gardening, an outing like this can offer fresh inspiration. You might come home thinking about a planting combination, a garden path or a small detail you would like to try in your own space.

The part of the garden with the pumpkins added a wonderful backdrop for many personal photos and added a wonderful kick of fall colors. Has anyone visited this garden. If so leave if your  impressions of it in the comments.

If you are planning a visit , reserve your timed-entry tickets and check the Cheekwood website for current hours, exhibitions and seasonal events. You can choose a gardens-only ticket or one that includes the mansion. Wear comfortable shoes, too—the estate has changing elevations, and some paths are uneven.
