Garden Tour Bucket List: The Huntington Library Botanical Gardens San Marino California

The world is full of so many spectacular and varied gardens. And I'd like to visit each one of them, but until I win the lottery that's not possible! However, through the wonders of YouTube, it is possible for a virtual visit. I have found so many garden tour videos, I'd like to share my Garden Tour Bucket list with Sprouts readers. Each week, I'll feature a different garden video tour on my bucket list.

Today we visit Huntington Library Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California.

Friday's Flower "Peony"

If you are planning for next year's garden, try adding some peonies. These beauties bloom in June and put on a spectacular show. I have white peonies, but they come in pinks and reds too.
They can be planted in spring or fall, so if you are looking for something new to plant this fall, consider the peony.

Friday's Flower "Impatiens"

For color all summer and fall, choose impatiens. They do great in the shade and come in so many pretty colors. I like filling in between perennials in shade gardens with this plant. They also do well in containers that I position all over my property, mostly under trees and shady spots.

Friday's Flowers "Hydrangea"

Don't these beauties remind you of snowballs? These hydrangeas are always a show stopper in the garden and do well in partial shade. In the heat of August, their while snow ball shapes bring back memories of the cool days of winter (in which we will be wishing for summer!)

Garden Creatures: Frogs

What would a garden be without a frog pond? And a frog pond without frogs? These little guys are brand new this year. It's hard to tell from the photographs, but they are quite small. Their bigger, older extended family also live in the pond. It's fun to listen to the deep croak of the bullfrog when he decides to be vocal.

This particular frog pond is in my parents' garden.

Every year we enjoy watching the tiny tadpoles morph into these little frogs and then grow and grow, year by year.

Welcome to the pond, little frogs!
